Battle Strikers Toys v Metal Fight Beyblades

By ChloeAliceWilson

Spinning top toys are a classic children’s toy. The Beyblade version has been the market leader since the late 1990’s but recently Mega Bloks made a bid for a share of these toy sales with the launch of their Battle Strikers range.

So what are the differences between these two spinning top systems?

Magnext Battle Strikers by Mega Bloks were launched just over a year ago and have gone from strength to strength. A second wave of toys, Battle Strikers Series 2 were released to be shortly followed by the stronger and more durable Battle Strikers Metal XS range. Going back to basics, they are just a spinning top but with their magnetic technology they are controllable by the child playing with them. To play you need a launcher to send the striker off into battle and a finger controller to make the striker do what you want during the challenge.

Beyblade is a spinning top that has been around since 1999 when it was introduced to complement the anime TV series of the same name. Beyblades started off as an all plastic affair but their engineering has since changed greatly and in 2008, a new generation was released which had a metal outer layer. These Metal Fight Beyblades (MFB’s) come in four varieties – stamina, balance, attack and defence. The latest Hybrid Wheel System is an update to the MFBs. To play you need a launcher and a rip cord.

The aim of both games is to win the classic spinning top battle – to push your opponent out of the playing arena or be the last top still spinning.

Customisation

Both Battle Strikers and Beyblades are customisable. Each Battle Striker is built differently with a strength of either attack, defence or control.  The Strikers are made of six pieces, which can be mixed and matched to create custom versions.

Each Beyblade is made of four pieces – a face, a wheel, a track and a bottom. The face holds it altogether and includes the artwork. The wheel determines the strength of attack of the Beyblade due to several protrusions which slow your opponents down, the track controls the height and spin direction, and the bottom holds the interchangeable tips which mean the blades movement pattern can be altered.

Launching

Battle Strikers are launched from the Turbo Launcher. This is a hand held stick where the Striker is attached to the underside. The Battle Striker launcher then powers the striker to over 6000 RPMs, the player releases it and it is sent into battle.

The Beyblade game has a more traditional rip cord system which when quickly pulled back through the top and released, powers the blade into its battle. There is a launcher you can put them in to start with and then use the rip cord or you can just hold them in your hand whilst launching.

Control In Battle

Battle Strikers are controlled in battle by a magnetic finger controller. By pointing this controller at the Striker whilst in battle the player can make the striker jump or dodge out of an opponent’s way or charge into them with an attack.

Beyblades have no such control during the battle.

Battle Arena

Battle Strikers can battle on any surface, anywhere, although you can buy a Battle Arena to keep the strikers from spinning off all over the place.

The Bayblade equivalent playing area is called the Beystadium.

Variety Of Spinning Tops

Battle Strikers are available in 16 unique versions. Each Striker has a different mix of strength, determined by ratings in attack, defence and control.

There are 11 versions of Metal Fight Beyblades currently available in the UK.

Cost

Each Battle Striker costs around £5. A starter pack, which includes everything you need to play costs around £10 and the bestselling Battle Strikers Tournament Set costs up to £25 but is great value for money as so much is included.

Each Bey Blade starts at around £10, the cheapest starter pack is £15 and stadiums to play in also start at £15.

Differences In Game Play

  • Battle Strikers do not offer diversity in launch options. They can only be revved up via the launcher and have no ripcord or manual launch option as found with Beyblades.  The latter includes launch tactics, speeds and styles as part of the game play.
  • There is no finger control during battle in Beyblades. Some players think the finger control interferes with the tops too much but others find the interactivity during battle to be fun.
  • Battle Strikers and made of plastic and the latest Beyblades are made of metal making them faster.

  • Did Your Kids Love The Gruffalo Book? Yes, Then Try The Mystical Wood

The story's great. The pictures are fantastic. The characters are a bit scary but funny at the same time. The rhyme carries you quickly through the adventure. And there are 5 chapters, so you're getting great value for money. OK, OK, I'm biased. I admit it - this book is written by husband and the creatures are inspired by my son. But early UNBIASED reviews agree with me! It's only available for Kindle in the UK but you can see the great colour illustrations using Kindle for PC or on the new Kindle Fire when that comes out.Related Posts No related posts. - 6 months ago

chendrim 2 years ago

beyblade kick ass battle strike are ass because when you trie to control battle strikers they jump on your controler beyblades dont have controlers beyblade is all about skill and battle strikers are all about makeing kid feel like they got riped off!

Random guy 23 months ago

well battle strikers would beat a beyblade in a battle because they need battiers and beyblades you just pull the string but beyblades still own in battle they are much stronger than gay battle strikers.

SHUTUP 21 months ago

Battle stirkers Suk Well in mah opinion battle strikers r like trying to beat beyblades by using a controlling the blade but since its plastic its easy to lose and using the rip cord u can make it slow and fast Strikers r to weak if they put it with metal then maybe better but controlling is ghey actually cuz if u controll it it makes it slow down beyblade is luck strikers r like postive to win or lose if u controll right.

Wow. Battle Strikers are completely terrible! They spin at about 1 mile per hour. On the other hand, Beyblades have so much more action when it comes to battling. Battle Strikers bump eachother weakly when Beyblades completely kill eachother. JUST BUY THE BEYBLADES!

Beyblades are the most awesome thing in the universe, battle strikers are just a crappy version of them for lazy slobs who cant be bothered to pull a ripcord.Beyblades are awesome, the battles are always different and there is always a way to win when your against the best beyblade.Plus beyblades have 5 pieces and theres more than 36 beyblades and they are all different plus when battlestrikers explode there pieces get lost easily, beyblade pieces dont go that far
